YMCA - Kamp Kon-o-kwee
Kamp Kon-o-Kwee features a nature trail used by children. A system was developed to enable the user to download MP3 files to a kiosk. The kiosk consists of an MP3 player, a pictorial representation of the camp theme, a wireless modem and an antenna. A person can select a button and play an MP3 that describes the area as it was in the past and as it is in the present. The user can pause, continue, and play the file from a button on the kiosk. Additional custom features may be added.
The system has the ability to download the files remotely through the use of wireless modems. The user will select the location on a map in the central building, then download the file to that site. The user can record the files at the central building to be uploaded to the kiosks. The intent is to be able to uploaded a new program for the trail on a daily basis if needed. The files may be uploaded overnight by the desktop or laptop computer via wireless modems.
These systems can be custom configured per the clients' needs. For example, a template may be stored in various languages so that visitors to the camp will hear messages in their native tongue. Themes may be modified as well.
